About Satellite
BigPond Broadband Satellite is a great option for you to enjoy broadband internet, from almost anywhere in Australia. It allows you to surf the net at great speeds even if you live in a regional, rural or remote community.
Your Satellite hardware includes a satellite dish, cabling and a Satellite modem.
BigPond has three Satellite service options to suit your needs and budget:

• Our 1-way Satellite service gives you super-fast downloads with cost-effective phone line uploads using a dial-up connection. You can install it yourself or we can do it for you.
• Broadband Regional Connect (BRC) is a combination of 1-way Satellite for downloads with high-speed ISDN for uploads, that allows you to use your phone, or fax, while you're on the net. We'll install it for you.
• Our 2-way Satellite service sends and receives data via Satellite, with no need for phone lines, ideal for the most remote communities and locations. We'll install it for you.

Please note, BigPond Satellite dishes are for internet services only and are not compatible with Satellite television services.

1 way Satellite service
With the 1-way Satellite service all files are downloaded via Satellite, direct to a receiving Satellite dish on your roof, carried to your Satellite modem and into your computer. You send your files, such as emails, via a normal dial-up connection.

Broadband Regional Connect (BRC) Satellite service
The BigPond Broadband Regional Connect (BRC) Satellite service uses a combination of high speed Broadband 1-way Satellite (see above) for downloads and fast ISDN (speeds up to 128kbps)^ for uploads. Combining ISDN with our 1-way Satellite service increases your upload speed with the bonus that you can use the internet and talk on your telephone, or send and receive faxes, at the same time.

2-Way Satellite service
You can access BigPond Broadband 2-way Satellite service virtually anywhere in Australia, even if there isn't a phone line near your premises, provided you have a clear line of site to the satellite. Unlike our 1-way Satellite and Broadband Regional Connect services (see above), 2-way Satellite doesn't depend on land-based phone lines or cables, so it can reach places far beyond the range of ADSL or cable, giving you download speeds of up to 800kbps^.
